Finally! Four episodes in and we finally get to the pilot!
Oh, man. This one was rough.
The main reason I picked Lizzie McGuire for this blog is that it was the show that bothered me the most when it was on the air during my actual middle school years. It didn’t have a versatile, talented comedic powerhouse at its center like That’s So Raven or a goofy, over-the-top take on the genre like Even Stevens or an interesting sci-fi premise like Phil of the Future. Everyone has their own opinion, of course, but to me Lizzie McGuire was the least interesting show of the Disney Channel lineup and generally the lowest-quality in terms of acting and writing.
The first episode of Lizzie McGuire starts with a baby-faced Hilary Duff looking nervously at a poster for cheerleading tryouts and cuts to Cartoon Lizzie, who says the first line of the series: “Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Me, Lizzie McGuire, cheerleader? What up with that?”
Oh hey. Welcome to Lizzie McGuire Reviewed, the only blog on the internet where someone watches all 65 episodes of Lizzie McGuire and posts thoughts about them. If you’re wondering why someone would do that, the answer is here, sort of, but at the end of the day I guess there’s just a type of person who wants to publicly post thoughts about Lizzie McGuire. Hopefully there’s people who want to read them.
I can think of literally no reason why anyone could possibly be reading this who doesn’t know what Lizzie McGuire is, so I’ll assume everyone is at least familiar with the fact that this is a Disney Channel sitcom that ran from 2001 to 2004 (despite being only two seasons long) about a girl in middle school where everyone wears really hideous clothes.
So I’m going to watch every episode of Lizzie McGuire in chronological order and review them. That’s it, that’s the blog.
